One of the many different things I dabble in is teaching jewelry-making and directing the occasional children's party. Today I directed an 11th birthday party. Each girl (14 of them!) made a stretchy bracelet and a necklace. I had on hand bottle caps, buttons, and silver-tone flip-flip charms from which they could choose for their necklace pendant.
It was a blast! All the girls came up with interesting designs. Can I just say that by age 10 or so, it's pretty easy to tell which kids have a sense of design, color and pattern, and which of them fly by the seat of their pants. :)
